Volkswagen’s Upcoming Performance Car Set For India Launch—But Not in Showrooms!

Volkswagen Golf GTI To Feature A 265-HP Turbo-Petrol

Volkswagen will launch the latest iteration of the Golf GTI in India this year. The hot hatchback will arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). It will be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 265 hp and 370 Nm of peak torque. Power will go to the front wheels through a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The Golf GTI can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

This is not the first time that Volkswagen India has introduced a hot hatchback in India. It has also brought the to our shores, albeit for a limited time. The Golf GTI’s launch in India will be preceded by that of the Tiguan R-Line, which is set for April 14th. The Golf GTI’s main competitor in India will be the Mini Cooper S, which comes with a 204 hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
