Yamaha R1M-Inspired Limited Edition Scooter Unveiled

  • Yamaha Cygnus X gets special visual treatment in Japan
  • Adorns R1M-inpsired livery
  • To be limited to just 800 units

Yamaha is all set to launch a limited edition of its 125cc scooter, the Cygnus X, in Japan on 25 August, 2026. It boasts a special R1M-inspired livery and will be limited to just 800 units.

R1M, which is Yamaha’s homologation-special sportbike, is a sinister-looking thing, and this special Cygnus X looks like an apt pit scooter for someone who owns and rides the litre-class track tool. The bodywork of the scooter boasts a matte titanium finish with carbon-fibre accents inspired by the flagship superbike. The exclusive graphics, badges, and a suede-like seat complete the package. Adding a bit of bling are golden brake calipers at both ends and a bright yellow rear shock.

Mechanical details of the scooter remain unchanged. The Cygnus X uses a 124cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum output of 12bhp. On the feature front, there is an LCD instrument cluster and a USB charger. The suspension hardware includes telescopic front forks and twin rear springs, while the braking setup comprises single discs on both wheels.

In India, Yamaha’s contenders for the 125cc scooter segment include the Fascino 125 and the Ray ZR 125. While the former is a more family-oriented offering, the latter is a youthful and sportier-looking scooter.
