2027 Kawasaki KLX230R S Launched in India at Rs. 1.89 lakh

Kawasaki India has launched the 2027 KLX230R S in the country at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.89 lakh. The updated off-road motorcycle commands a premium of Rs. 10,000 over its predecessor while bringing a handful of revisions aimed at improving rider comfort and usability on trails.

One of the key changes for 2027 is the revised riding position. Kawasaki has repositioned the handlebar 25mm further forward, a change that is likely to offer improved rider mobility and control, especially while riding in a standing position over rough terrain.

The KLX230R S also benefits from a larger fuel tank. Capacity has increased from 6.6 litres to 7.6 litres, which should translate into better range and fewer fuel stops during extended trail rides. This enhancement is expected to be particularly useful for riders venturing into remote off-road locations.

Comfort has also been addressed with a redesigned seat. The new unit uses urethane that is 6mm thicker than before, which should provide better cushioning over long hours in the saddle. Interestingly, despite the additional padding, Kawasaki has managed to reduce the seat height by 20mm while retaining the motorcycle’s flat seat profile. The lower saddle should make the KLX230R S more accessible to a wider range of riders.

Apart from these updates, the motorcycle continues with the same mechanical package. Power comes from a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor paired with a six-speed gearbox. The engine produces 19.57bhp at 8,000rpm and 20.6Nm at 6,000rpm. The KLX230R S also retains its off-road-focused hardware, including long-travel suspension, a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup, and knobby tyres.

Like before, the KLX230R S is designed exclusively for off-road use and is not road legal. It remains one of the most accessible factory-built trail motorcycles available in the Indian market, catering to enthusiasts looking for a dedicated machine for recreational off-roading and rider training.
