Upcoming Moto Guzzi 457cc Roadster Spied Testing

  • Features a round headlight
  • Likely to feature the same engine as the Tuono 457
  • Unlikely to be launched in India

An upcoming Moto Guzzi roadster has been spotted testing abroad, and it is likely based on the Aprilia Tuono 457. The test mule appears to share a lot of parts in common with the Tuono 457, but with a reworked design. As both Moto Guzzi and Aprilia are owned by Piaggio, this is expected.

It gets a round headlight and a fly screen, giving it a distinct look compared to the Tuono 457. The heavy camouflage makes it difficult to spot details clearly, but bits like the aggressive tank extensions that we saw on the Tuono are not present on the test mule. Overall, the bike’s distinct identity as a retro-style roadster is evident.

The roadster appears to be powered by the same 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the Tuono 457, as evident by the crankcase profile from the side. For reference, on the Tuono 457 the motor produces 46.9bhp and 43.5Nm.

Mechanically, the bike shares some parts in common with the Tuono, judging by the images. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch alloys at both ends, with what appears to be a 320mm front and 220mm rear disc brake setup, similar to the Tuono 457.

What distinguishes the bike from the Tuono is the rear suspension setup. The roadster appears to feature an offset single shock absorber at the rear. This is a big departure from the monoshock setup that the Tuono 457 and the RS 457 use.

The upcoming roadster is most probably going to be a Europe and international market-focused product, and is unlikely to come to India as Moto Guzzi doesn’t have a presence in India.
