Acerbis Releases New Velocity Shoe Series

  • All three meet EN 13634:2017 standards

Acerbis has launched the Velocity motorcycle footwear range that offers a more everyday use aesthetic than normal riding boots. This new family has the Velocity Flow, Velocity Raw and Velocity Terra models with slightly different construction for each. All three are designed to provide motorcycle-specific protection complying with the EN 13634:2017 standards.

Velocity Flow is the sportiest-looking option in the family. It uses an abrasion-resistant leather outer layer, accompanied by mesh sections on the sides. These mesh panels are intended to improve airflow and manage heat during warm-weather. Flow also receives a waterproof membrane for protection against rain. Acerbis has added reinforcements around the ankle, heel and toe, along with an abrasion-resistant patch where the shoe meets the gear lever. A padded collar and tongue should help reduce pressure around the foot during longer use.

Flow uses a rubber outsole designed to provide grip on the motorcycle’s footpegs as well as on the ground. It is available only in black but with the widest among the three models extending from European size 36 to 47.

Velocity Raw follows the same broad idea but uses a brown suede upper resembling a casual high-top shoe. It is ventilated through micro-perforated side panels, while a waterproof and breathable membrane is also fitted to handle changing weather. There’s reinforced ankle areas, heel and toe sections, with a separate patch for the gear lever. Raw is offered only in sizes 39 to 47, making its size selection narrower than the Flow.

Velocity Terra sits at the top of the range and has a taller, mid-cut shape that provides more support around the ankle placing it somewhere between a regular riding shoe and a lightweight boot. Acerbis has used a padded upper section, a cushioned midsole and a light construction to make it suitable for extended use.

A Michelin outsole is the Terra’s main distinguishing feature with its tread been developed to maintain grip on wet or slippery surfaces. The shoe uses elastic quick-adjust laces along with an upper Velcro strap. Terra too receives a waterproof membrane and structural protection at the toe, heel and ankle. It is sold in black with sizes through 39 to 47.

There is no official confirmation of an Indian launch yet, but since a lot of suppliers carry Acerbis products, expect them to reach local markets soon.
