HJC RPHA 1 V2 Funky Diablo Looks Brilliant; also Glows in the Dark

  • Limited-edition replica of Quartararo’s 2025 Catalan GP helmet
  • Carbon shell weighs approximately 1,400g in medium size

HJC RPHA 1 V2 Carbon Funky Diablo has been introduced in Europe for now. The limited-edition racing helmet recreates the design worn by Fabio Quartararo at the 2025 Catalan Grand Prix with an exposed carbon-fibre shell with bright neon graphics. HJC Europe already mentioned that the helmet is sold out, you’ll be very lucky to get a hold of one. Also, a lot of RPHA series is now ISI homologation so hopefully getting this one should be less fussy through our bureaucracy, only if a few are reserved for our market.

The Funky Diablo is based on HJC’s flagship RPHA 1 V2 Carbon. HJC has retained much of the carbon weave as a visible background rather than hiding it beneath a full layer of paint. Bright green, yellow, orange, pink and blue details then run across the shell creating a contrast between the serious carbon construction and the playful artwork.

The main Diablo character sits prominently on the crown. It was developed jointly by Quartararo and helmet designer Sylvain of Aero Diffusion, drawing on the rider’s familiar El Diablo identity. The character receives a glow-in-the-dark finish which gives the helmet an additional visual effect after sunset.

Underneath the artwork is a carbon-fibre outer shell designed using feedback and data from professional MotoGP riders. HJC claims a weight of approximately 1,400g with a tolerance of 50g for a medium-sized helmet. Four outer-shell sizes are used across the complete fit range helping HJC maintain a compact external shape instead of using one large shell with different amounts of internal padding.

A rear racing spoiler is fitted to improve high-speed stability. The company also supplies another dark smoke spoiler allowing the appearance and aerodynamic setup to be changed. The company says the shell and spoiler package has been developed around the demands of racing rather than everyday urban use alone.

Ventilation is managed through HJC’s Advanced Channeling Ventilation System. It uses five intake vents and four exhaust outlets to move air from the front of the helmet towards the rear. HJ-35 visor offers 99 percent ultraviolet protection and an anti-scratch coating. It also uses a double-locking arrangement intended to prevent unwanted opening at high speeds. A tool-free fitting system allows the visor to be removed for cleaning or replacement without needing separate tools.

The RPHA 1 V2 Carbon uses a titanium double D-ring fastening system and carries ECE 22.06 approval and certification under the latest FIM Racing Homologation Programme, FRHPhe-02.
