Honda Recalls 43,913 Motorcycles in the US: Rebel 300, Rebel 500, and SCL 500 Affected

Honda America has issued a recall for the Rebel 300, Rebel 500, and the SCL 500 in the USA due to a faulty handlebar lock screw tightening process. The problem, according to the recall notification, was caused by unclear working instructions for tightening the screw.

This could result in the screw falling off when riding, between the frame and the steering stem, potentially causing a crash. The recall notice lists 43,913 motorcycles, covering 2017–2023 and 2025 Rebel 500 motorcycles, 2017–2023 and 2025–2026 Rebel 300 motorcycles, and 2025 SCL500 motorcycles.

Now that the issue has been identified, the brand is expected to send a recall notification to individual owners by 21 September 2026. Owners of bikes with this issue can get it fixed at the nearest service center free of charge. The service will include replacing the existing handlebar lock screw with a new one, applying thread lock, and ensuring the correct tightening process has been followed.

In India, Honda had recently announced its plans to launch the Rebel 300 and the Rebel 500. Both these cruisers will be part of the Japanese manufacturer’s expanded lineup and are likely to be launched by the end of 2026. Here’s what we can expect from the Honda Rebel 300.
