MotoGP 2026: Trackhouse Aprilia Racing’s Raul Fernandez wins the British GP

Trackhouse Aprilia Racing’s Raul Fernandez has won the British Grand Prix, and that too in dominant fashion. The Spaniard led every lap of the race in conditions that made preserving tyre life crucial.

Raul races ahead!

As the lights went out, Raul Fernandez made a brilliant start and managed to pip pole-sitter Jorge Martin on the Factory Aprilia going into Turn One at Silverstone. Martin and Raul’s teammate, Ai Ogura, suffered a similar fate as the rear ride-height devices on their Aprilias failed to disengage, causing them to lose positions.

Settling in

In the first few laps, Raul quickly built a sizeable gap at the front and set a new race lap record on Lap 3. In fact, he was over four seconds clear of the chasing duo of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin, who managed to quickly recover after their issues at Turn One.

While several riders battled for positions behind him, Fernandez maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the race.

Martin eventually moved into second ahead of teammate Bezzecchi, while a number of riders, including Enea Bastianini, Francesco Bagnaia and Ai Ogura, crashed out. Ogura’s retirement was particularly costly as he was second in the championship standings heading into the race.

Shake-up in the championship

Fernandez remained unchallenged in the closing stages despite Martin reducing the gap slightly. He eventually crossed the finish line 2.5 seconds clear of Martin to take a dominant victory.

Martin finished second and extended his championship lead to 31 points over Bezzecchi, who completed an all-Aprilia podium in third. Alex Marquez was the leading Ducati rider in fourth, followed by Pedro Acosta on the Factory KTM and Fabio Di Giannantonio on the VR46 Ducati.

Marc Marquez endured a difficult race and finished seventh, leaving him 40 points behind Martin in the championship.

The next round will be held in Aragon, Spain, from August 28–30. Aragon is Marc Marquez’s stronghold, but the Aprilias will be determined to win at the track.
