BSA has expanded the options for its motorcycle line-up by introducing two new colour choices for the Gold Star 650, named Birmingham Blue and Brooklands Black. With these additions, the total number of colour offerings for the model now stands at five. The single-tone Birmingham Blue is available at Rs 3.56 lakh, while the dual-tone Brooklands Black takes position as the new range-topping variant with a price tag of Rs 3.65 lakh. Previous options including Insignia Red (Rs 3.42 lakh), Shadow Black (3.46 lakh), and the Silver Sheen Legacy Edition (Rs 3.60 lakh) continue to be offered.
Inspiration From Heritage and Racing History
The newly introduced paint schemes draw direct inspiration from the heritage of the marque, which dates back approximately 165 years. The Birmingham Blue variant serves as a tribute to the city of Birmingham, where the Birmingham Small Arms Company started operations in 1861, initially manufacturing firearms before moving to bicycles and motorcycles. This specific colourway features a deep blue hue on the front fender, fuel tank, side panels, and rear fender, complemented by contrasting white pinstriping on the fuel tank and side panels alongside distinctive badging. Most other components receive a blacked-out finish, encompassing the front telescopic forks, engine casing, wheel rims, and the exhaust.

Meanwhile, the Brooklands Black variant links back to the historic Brooklands circuit. It was at this venue in June 1937 that racer Wal Handley piloted a specially prepared BSA Empire Star to victory, setting new records and earning a coveted Brooklands Gold Star badge for crossing speeds of 100 mph (161 km/h). The Brooklands Black option combines black with glossy metallic accents on the fuel tank, paired with darkish glossy chrome finishes on the front and rear fenders and the exhaust. Golden pinstriping and a unique gold-finished badge on the fuel tank complete this top-tier variant.
Technical Specifications and Hardware
No mechanical alterations have been made alongside the new paint schemes. Propulsion is handled by a 652 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor that puts out 45 hp and 55 Nm of maximum torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are managed by 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and twin rear shock absorbers featuring 5-step adjustable preload.
The motorcycle rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, which are shod in Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres measuring 100/90 and 150/70 respectively. Stopping power is delivered by a 320 mm disc up front and a 255 mm disc at the rear, supported by standard dual-channel ABS. The machine features a seat height of 782 mm and incorporates a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres, with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 serving as its primary rival.
