Volvo Cars India has officially introduced its flagship electric vehicle, the Volvo EX90, in the sub-continent with an introductory price tag of Rs. 1.26 crore (ex-showroom). Serving as the brand's new top-tier offering and positioning itself above the internal combustion engine-powered XC90, this three-row luxury utility vehicle becomes the Swedish manufacturer's fourth electric offering in the local market, following models like the C40 Recharge, XC40 Recharge, and EX30. Order books are currently open across authorized dealer networks, with test driving opportunities slated to commence next month and customer handovers expected to start from January 2027.
Powertrain, Performance, and Dimensions
Propelling the new utility vehicle is a large 106kWh battery pack that supplies energy to two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 456 bhp and 670 Nm of torque. The brand states a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds, while the top speed is capped at 180 km/h. According to testing standards, the model provides a WLTP-rated range of up to 625 km on a single charge. For replenishing power, the vehicle supports DC charging up to 350 kW, which allows a 10 to 80 percent state of charge refill in 22 minutes, whereas an 11 kW AC charger requires 11 hours for a full charge.

In terms of physical footprint, the EX90 measures 5,037 mm in length, 1,964 mm in width, and 1,747 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 2,985 mm. The standard ground clearance is listed at 213 mm, which can be raised up to 250 mm courtesy of an air suspension system fitted across all four wheels. Cargo capacity is rated at 324 litres with all three rows in place, which expands to 690 litres when the rear-most seats are folded down, alongside an additional 46-litre front trunk storage space.
Exterior Styling and Colour Options
The vehicle follows a minimalistic design philosophy, showcasing a blanked-off front grille featuring the brand emblem and a sculpted lower bumper with a gloss black surround. Lighting duties are managed by Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights with a pixel-style signature that conceals the headlamps until activated, alongside C-shaped LED tail lamps and vertical brake lights flanking the rear windshield. Profile highlights include an upright stance, squared-off silhouette, flush door handles, unique ORVM designs, gloss black underbody cladding, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Buyers can choose from a total of six monotone exterior paint schemes:

- Denim Blue
- Crystal White

Inside the cabin, the minimalist aesthetic continues with a notable absence of physical controls, housing most functions inside a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Google services, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. India-bound specifications feature an exclusive six-seat layout comprising second-row captain seats with individual armrests and slide-and-recline adjustments.
Additional amenities include an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable steering wheel, four-zone climate control, power-adjustable front and rear seats with heating, ventilation, and massaging functions for the front row, a digital key plus, powered tailgate, multiple wireless chargers, and a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system.
