Upcoming Yamaha R2 Pre-bookings Open

Yamaha has started pre-bookings for the upcoming Yamaha R2 sports bike in India. The upcoming model can be pre-booked via the Yamaha website for Rs. 10,000 as a down payment. The amount will later be adjusted against the bike’s final on-road price at the time of purchase.

The brand plans to launch the R2 on 27 August 2026, and customers who have pre-booked the motorcycle will get priority delivery, subject to stock availability.

The booking amount is refundable if the customer doesn’t want to proceed with the purchase from 5 September 2026. Refunds will have to be initiated offline with the dealership with which the bookings were made.

The Yamaha R2 has been in the works for a while now, and it will likely slot in between the R15 and the R3. It could be powered by an enlarged version of the Yamaha R15’s engine. The R15’s motor, for reference, is a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm.

The launch of the Yamaha R2 will make it possible for Yamaha to better compete with rivals like KTM and Hero in the 200cc sports bike segment.
