Royal Enfield has introduced the 125th Anniversary Edition Hypershift Classic 650, carrying an ex-showroom price in India of Rs 4,25,589. Developed to mark the company's 125th anniversary celebrations, this special release will have its production capped at 125 units per key global region. Prospective buyers can register starting at 2 PM IST on October 16, 2026, and the registration window stays open until the sale day on October 28, with customer deliveries planned to commence in November 2026. The anniversary model relies on the established 650 Twin architecture, focusing its primary upgrades on the paintwork, handcrafted accents, and commemorative additions.

Hypershift Paint Changes With The Light

The standout characteristic is the bespoke Hypershift finish from Royal Enfield, which transitions between green, red, and gold hues as illumination shifts across the bike. Its brass foundation draws inspiration from early 1901 Royal Enfield motorcycles, blending darker tones with golden highlights. This coating covers the fuel tank, mudguards, side panels, and the headlamp nacelle, while black exhaust components and engine parts create contrast. The machine maintains the classic teardrop fuel tank, rounded bodywork, and the nacelle-mounted headlamp silhouette.

Hand-painted pinstripes frame the central black section of the fuel tank. A commemorative Royal Enfield cannon decal sits on the top of the tank, and a gilded 125-year crest decorates the side panel, setting this version apart from the standard Classic 650.

Quilted Brown Leather Seat

The motorcycle is equipped with a vintage-style brown leather rider saddle featuring quilted stitching. Its contrasting thread pairs with the gold accents found across the motorcycle. Standard equipment features an LED tail lamp, an LED headlight, and a USB Type-C charging port, whereas the turn indicators retain conventional bulbs. Wire-spoke wheels, rounded mirrors, and black-finished twin exhausts complete the exterior design.

The Hypershift coating leverages the rounded contours of the Classic 650, displaying varied shades across the mudguards and tank as lighting conditions alter. Blacked-out mechanical parts balance the intricate paint, and the quilted brown seat along with gold pinstripes enhances the traditional aesthetic.

Above-350cc Sales Decline Despite Overall Growth

The introduction of the anniversary model coincides with a sales downturn for Royal Enfield's above-350cc lineup. During September 2026, this sector achieved 12,463 units, representing a 26.04% decrease compared to 16,850 units recorded in the same month the previous year, and a 6.55% drop relative to August. This stood in contrast to overall company sales, inclusive of exports, which rose 7.75% year-on-year to reach 1,33,958 units.

This contraction extends beyond a single month, as volumes for displacements above 350cc fell by 11.84% to 38,983 units during the July–September 2026 period, while April–September figures dropped 9.12% to 74,784 units. Meanwhile, total company volumes expanded by 16.02% and 19.80% over those respective timeframes. Royal Enfield is preparing to release the 750cc Himalayan in the coming weeks, which is expected to support sales in the above-350cc category.
