Ultraviolette X47 More Affordable Than Ola S1 Pro Plus? Here’s What You Need To Know

Ultraviolette X47 BaaS Subscription Model Explained

In a move that has significantly reduced the up-front cost of its electric crossover bike, Ultraviolette has now announced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model for the X47 crossover. Interestingly, the new ownership model has made the X47 EV more affordable than an economy electric scooter, such as the Ola Electric S1 Pro Plus. That is because while the scooter costs Rs 1.55 lakh ex-showroom, customers can now ride home an X47 performance bike by just paying Rs 1.49 lakh. Here’s everything that you need to know.

Under the ‘Battery Flex’ BaaS model, Ultraviolette has managed shave off Rs 1 lakh in upfront costs as the bike is priced from Rs 2.49 lakh ex-showroom with the battery. Under BaaS, a buyer does not pay for the battery pack and instead rents it for a monthly subscription charge. In the X47’s case, this monthly rental will cost Rs 2,499 for buyers. Another key aspect of this ownership model is that instead of charging battery rental at a per-kilometre basis for a pre-determined amount of distance, Ultraviolette will only take a base amount as monthly rental and does not cap the amount of distance one can travel in a month.

This helps enthusiasts get into the Ultraviolette range of performance electric bikes by paying up to 40 percent less in purchasing cost, at the time of buying the EV. Buyers further get a 5-year warranty on the battery pack under the subscription model. This is lower than the 8-year or 8 lakh kilometre warranty that is offered to standard buyers.

Coming to the technical specifications, the BaaS ownership program is available to both 7.1 kWh battery pack and 10.3 kWh battery pack buyers. The low upfront price of Rs 1.49 lakh is for the smaller battery version that has a claimed range of 211 km. It also produces 550 Nm of torque and has a top speed of 145 kmph. The subscription price for the higher trim with the larger battery pack and 323 km of claimed range will be announced in the coming days.
